Novartis has gone to court to gain access to Takeda Pharmaceutical documents over concerns that a former employee took trade secrets with him to his new job at the rival drugmaker.
In a complaint filed in Massachusetts Superior Court, Novartis claimed that Khaled Shams Eldin transferred approximately 10,000 company files to his personal e-mail before leaving his job last May in Cairo, where he most recently worked in technical operations handling site divestments and relationships with suppliers, according to his LinkedIn page.
The documents contain “sensitive” technical information, sales and financial data, site plans, and confidential transactions, some of which is “directly relevant to his work at Takeda,” where he began a similar position last July. Although Eldin had relinquished some files, Novartis contended that he still possesses some information, and Takeda has “stonewalled” its efforts to recover any documents.
